Well, as many of you know, I have challenged myself with reorganizing my scrapbook room so it can be useful instead of an eye sore jungle. I have surprised myself how much I got done this week. I set my phone for appointments for 15 minute intervals to work in the room. Also, (the only good thing that comes out of Berkley and I not having the same days off) was that I had an uninterrupted day (today) to get stuff done. I have lost track of how many trash bags I filled up. I also filled up 2 bags for donations. There is still much yet to be done. But the major things are finished. I am so excited to show you my first set of before and after pictures.
Sorry I didn't get the exact same angle for the last one.
See ya in a week! All I have left to do is organize my actual scrapbook stuff and redo the shelves over my desk. And, get a shelf unit for the closet area.

Scrappy Intervention
As many of you know, I am a scrapbooker. And as few of you know...my scrapbook room is nothing less than a DISASTER!!! I don't have much time to scrap so my room stays a mess. You would think that I would keep my room clean so I can do quick projects in the little spare time I do have. Well, I am probably one of the biggest procrastinators in the world! GASP!!! I have never understood how I can be such a procrastinator and so disorganized when my brain is so organized. I am ...what some people call...OCD at work. Everything has to be perfect and it has to be done MY way.
Well, I recently read through a Better Homes & Gardens Secrets of Getting Organized magazine. It enlightened me to why and how to fix my problem of disorganization! In an article titled, "Ready, Set, get motivated!" This article lists different "attitudes" and "solutions" such as, Feeling Overwhelmed...(attitude) "There's just too much to tackle, I don't have the time or energy." Attachment...(attitude) "I can't get rid of these things. They belonged to a loved one, or I might need them in the future." Then come the next two that shot me right to my "ah-ha" moment. Procrastination and Perfectionism. Procrastination...(attitude) "I don't have the time or energy today, so I'll handle it later." (That is SSSOOOO ME!!!) and Perfectionism...(attitude) "If I can't do it right, I won't do it at all." (AH-HA!!!!)
So, with this enlightenment, I am going to challenge myself. I have designated a motivation partner. She is going to check up on me and make sure I complete the tasks I set out to do.
Now here is the amazing part....I am going to reform my scrapbook room in 4 weeks!!! I am going to have a detailed list of what to have completed and by when. I have broken up the room into manageable pieces to make this realistic for me.
Are you ready for the pictures??? I can't believe I am actually going to publish these, but that is the first step in my motivation program for disorganization rehab.
Yes...this is the entrance to my scrapbook room. I purposefully didn't pick up anything that I "set down to put away later" or anything that "fell over when I set something on the pile."
This is the closet. I removed the doors as to have better access to the "storage" without wasting space for the doors to open. Good Idea...bad storage.
This is the area between the back of my desk and the window. This is a perfect place for a comfy chair, should I ever have company while I scrap. Also, Gus tries to get here to look outside which is his favorite thing to do. So instead I put "out of sight, out of mind" objects here and get annoyed if he steps on this stuff to look outside.
The next 6 pictures are a 360 degree photo shoot around to room for general viewing.
So as you can see, I have my work cut out for me. I still have to make my task list before I can start. But I am chomping at the bit to get started. I will update every Friday for the next 4 weeks. Hope this inspires someone else to get motivated about something!
